Senior Technician

Role Purpose

Disassembles, inspects, assembles, reworks and tests rotating equipment to exacting tolerances. 

Job Accountabilities & Activities

- Carry out diagnosis of faults, the maintenance and repairs to all types of plant and equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner and return equipment to operational service
- Estimate length of time required to complete a job and likely consequences of failure to complete work within required timescales
- Providing full report for site work in time frame
- Train and mentor apprentices and less experienced technicians
- Provide leadership and assistance to less experienced technicians and apprentice
- Disassembles, cleaning and inspects all parts of rotating equipment to determine repair requirements
- Completes inspection reports determining scrap, refurbishment or replacement of components
- Use of various pneumatic tools, hand tools, acetylene torch
- Tests and dynamically balances rotating elements
- Providing technical report for various equipment 
- Reads complex engineering blueprints, drawings and diagrams
- Re assembly of rotating equipment
- Ensures that machinery and test equipment is functioning properly
- Performs routine maintenance on machinery and test equipment
- Performs housekeeping tasks as required
- Meets quality and specification standards
- Ability to validate equipment meets the specification for required service
- Uses various precision measurement devises
- Calculates various mathematical formulas to determine part dimensions and tolerances
- Follows safety and environmental rules, company policies and procedures in carrying out duties
- Serves as a knowledge resource for less experiences fitters and trains them as and when required
- On occasions may be required to support field activities.
- May on occasions be required to travel.

Technical degree

Required Years of Experience

Preferably 6 to 9 years’ experience
